Why has Absolute Batman become one of the biggest success stories in modern comics?

Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta radically reinvented Bruce Wayne: no billionaire fortune, no Wayne Manor, a completely different relationship with Gotham, and a Batman who looks and feels unlike the version readers have known for decades.

And yet, nearly two years into its run, Absolute Batman is still sitting at the top of comic-book sales charts.

In the first episode of Inside the Comics, Liam J. Holland is joined by his fellow  @LegendsofPodcasting  co-hosts to look at why Absolute Batman has connected so strongly with readers. Is this simply another successful Batman comic — or are we watching a new generation find their Batman? Let us know in the comments: what do you think is the biggest reason for Absolute Batman's success?

Subscribe to Inside the Comics for conversations with comic creators, deep dives into the industry, comic-book history, and discussions exploring why comics work the way they do.
