Tony Defries, considering that to be a star, you had to act like a star, and with a nod towards Colonel Tom Parker and Elvis Presley, David Bowie was marketed creating an image of stardom and success. As Mott The Hoople and Bowie met, David had just completed recording sessions for the album that would bring worldwide acclaim, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. He had finally focused his storytelling with a staggering record centered on an alien who adopted human form, the concept allowing David to make theatricality with a space fixation and orientation towards the apocalyptic.
