You can't help but ask people and yourself about where we stand today. I tend to bring this subject up a lot because who we are today isn't always where we stood a week or two ago. Headlines endlessly smashing into our process of thoughts. Good days versus bad. Opinions from others dominating every conversation from Zoom to dinner. I'm learning to ask before getting comfortable in a conversation, "Where do you stand today?" On this podcast episode we put focus on this energy saving question. A lot of space is being wasted when where we stand doesn't agree with our progress. So many points of view are readily available to either heighten the connection or rip to shreds a lengthy friendship. This isn't about Ghosting people on social media or agreeing to disagree, Where do you stand today? How can we learn to belong to each others circle of energy peacefully? By being aware of where we stand. Someone close to me openly admitted on Facebook over the weekend how proud and happy they are in being an Atheist. That's where they stand. In knowing this I'm still able to walk and create peacefully with them. Understanding who each other are as people is what develops strong relationships that work. Not relationships you have to work on to work. Being respectful of all choices. Which is why I love the everyday world! If we were all the same it would be incredibly boring. I remember asking my mother about her ways of disciplining "Why does it anger you that I do this? It's who I am. If you shaped all of us the same you'd have nothing to do. Expect me to be me." Where do you stand today? I'm not asking it to talk politics or sports. The question is designed to layout a platform of peace not to compete. To trust in the moment and not be afraid of invisibly embarrassing someone. I was once hauled into an HR meeting for being too positive. I was accused of talking about religion to co-workers. Not so. It was just me being positive. I've never mentioned God in talks until you bring it up first. Where do you stand today? What about tonight after you hear of the stock market and North Korea making bomb threats again. It's going to take all of us to reach places of peace and it has to begin with talking to each other face to face and not on the internet. Your written words don't come with inflection and too often our perception is so far off where you stand that it becomes too late to repair the damage.
