Farhad Hossain is the creative force behind Shumaun, a DC area progressive rock band of epic power and ethereal melodies.

I discovered Shumaun through my relationship with Freeman promotions. Freeman works with a number of fantastic artists, and Shumaun is one such act.

As a songwriter, Farhad credits both his love for progressive rock bands like Rush and Dream Theater that preceded him in his creative journey, as well as songwriters and groups known for simple and lovely melodies... an example being Tears for Fears.

You may not hear the influences directly in the music, but you surely hear it between the lines. There is a magic and purpose in what Farhad brings to the musical mission of Shumaun.

Their next record will be coming out later this year, perhaps as early as late summer, but for now, we have one new track to listen to on YouTube or wherever you get your digital media. That song is the impeccable Memories of Water, and is the piece bookending this show today.
