The biggest threat to the world that Donald Trump has always posed is not his policies, it’s the way he and his followers have now normalized hatred, bigotry and discord. 

His rally should have ended his campaign; it invigorated it. His surrogates have said things that are beyond the pale. He has said and done things that are just horrific. And yet, they are accepted.
And this normalization is everywhere. On social media, everyone wants to fight, say horrible things about people they never met.

Can we recover from this disease of hatred or has he unleashed a beast that will remain for a long, long time?
