Recent studies (https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/apr/02/new-science-of-death-brain-activity-consciousness-near-death-experience) show that the brain is furious with activity in the minutes after death. Areas of the brain that don’t generally work together suddenly team up, and the visual cortex is particularly active.
