I remember hosting those early morning radio shows. I’d show up at 4am to help bring life to that two speaker stage. There were people on the other side of that microphone that needed a huge pick me up or something simple to hold onto during their busy and confused new beginning. Being in the studio at that time was and still is the radio dream millions wish to live. It served as a place of connection, importance and on good days with the decision maker’s acceptance. The one thing you never want radio listeners to know is what it’s like when the alarm goes off at 2:45 and no matter what mood or mindset you’re in the show must go on. The mental confusion of last night suddenly becoming morning to never truly knowing if it’s a Monday or a Thursday. Not until you grab the local newspaper and it showcases the day and date. On this podcast episode we leap into a more modern morning performance on a different set of speakers. Away from radio. I’m still up by 4am. I hit the podcast microphone at 5:30. But before anything unfolds or is written in daily journals my dog Jazzie and I take a walk through the forest. I’m amazed at what we see so early. No two walks the same. The deer are slow dancing with the moon while the owl is teaching its wisdom to anyone willing to listen. The timid rabbits sit in the middle of the meadow just watching the ticks on the clock stretching toward another minute. The animal kingdom and nature have been extremely vibrant since our first step into Covid quarantine and social distancing. Spring and Summer 2020 have produced some of the greatest visuals with wild flowers and tall grass. The mystic shadows of a journey moving forward has been given the opportunity to breathe and yet so many of us have missed it. We’re still missing out the most important part of this present place we stand. Being available to participate with all that is Now. There’s an openness taking place and nature is letting us in to experience what’s always been here. No politics, no riots, no pandemic and a looming financial crash. Every animal I paused to study this new day was in a place of peace and no human walking their crazy dog was going to interrupt their dot on the map. Our world seems to be falling apart while their steps bring forward every reason to keep dreaming. So what does any of this have to do with hosting a morning radio show? I wish it could’ve been a little bit more real rather than always trying to take listeners toward a laugh. Savor your current place of growth. The moment we get extremely busy and less caring again you aren’t getting this much space back.
