WEEK 11; DAY 4
WANTING YOUR OWN WAY

It is natural for a natural man to want things his way but as soon as you become a new creation, you become a spirit man who should be aligned with God's Spirit: submitting your will to His and your desires to His.

This walk is a walk of a lifetime; continually choosing to lay down our lives to have life more abundantly.

I know it sounds like a paradox, an oxymoron to die in order to live but this is the way, our way. We serve to lead, give up to attain, submit to soar, lay down to build up, retreat to regain. The power for us is in the choice. We choose to submit our crowns so His Crown be glorified.

Our call in the kingdom is to die to self so we can live in God. Everything selfish is let go of. Is it easy? NO! A walk in the park? NAH! Haven't you heard it takes the strong to forgive? The virtues in the kingdom is built in this path of maturity and it can't be done by just wanting it, by self help.

"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love..." (2 Peter 1:5-11)

It takes the activation of the Spirit inside of you. It is by no means a moral code, it is power and of greater benefit. You need the Holy Spirit to live the Holy life and He is yours only by your Faith.

Remember, Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The Word of God is the person of Jesus Christ, accept Him in your life by confessing His Lordship and He is yours.

James 4:1-7
Where do you think all these appalling wars and quarrels come from? Do you think they just happen? Think again. They come about because you want your own way, and fight for it deep inside yourselves. You lust for what you don't have and are willing to kill to get it. You want what isn't yours and will risk violence to get your hands on it.
You wouldn't think of just asking God for it, would you? And why not? Because you know you'd be asking for what you have no right to. You're spoiled children, each wanting your own way.
You're cheating on God. If all you want is your own way, flirting with the world every chance you get, you end up enemies of God and his way. And do you suppose God doesn't care? The proverb has it that "he's a fiercely jealous lover." And what he gives in love is far better than anything else you'll find. It's common knowledge that "God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble."
So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he'll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it's the only way you'll get on your feet.
