Cs: V prázdninovém létě, kdy sluneční paprsky zahřívaly starobylé hradby Karlštejna, čekala třída studentů z veřejné střední školy na autobus.
En: In the summer holidays, when the sun's rays warmed the ancient walls of Karlštejn, a class of students from a public high school was waiting for the bus.

Cs: Byl to den školního výletu a všichni se těšili na výpravu k tomuto středověkému klenotu.
En: It was a school trip day, and everyone was excited about the journey to this medieval gem.

Cs: Jakub, chlapec s divoce kudrnatými vlasy a brýlemi, stál stranou.
En: Jakub, a boy with wildly curly hair and glasses, stood aside.

Cs: Miloval historii, obzvlášť hrady.
En: He loved history, especially castles.

Cs: Jeho spolužáci ho však kvůli tomu často považovali za podivína.

Cs: Průvodkyně vyprávěla historii hradu, ale Jakub měl pocit, že ví více.

En: And there, surprisingly, stood Hana.

Cs: „Ahoj,“ pozdravila nesměle.
En: "Hi," she greeted shyly.

En: Jakub just nodded silently.

Cs: „Víš o tomhle hradu hodně, že?“ zeptala se Hana.
En: "You know a lot about this castle, don't you?" Hana asked.

Cs: „Možná,“ odpověděl Jakub zdrženlivě.
En: "Maybe," Jakub replied cautiously.

Cs: A tak začali mluvit.
En: And so they started talking.

Cs: Povídali si o historii hradu, jeho tajemstvích a zážitcích ze školy.
En: They talked about the castle's history, its secrets, and school experiences.

Cs: Jakub byl ohromen, kolik toho Hana věděla.
En: Jakub was amazed at how much Hana knew.

Cs: A Hana zase našla odvahu projevit svůj zájem o historii.
En: And Hana, in turn, found the courage to show her interest in history.

Cs: Jakub se cítil lépe než kdy jindy.
En: Jakub felt better than ever.

Cs: A Hana nyní věřila, že být sám sebou je nejlepší cesta.
En: And Hana now believed that being oneself is the best path.
