Tony Pearson is a Warrior Dad fighting for equality, inclusion and a brighter future for his daughter, Grayce.

Grayce was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 2 at just 14 months old. Since then, Tony and her mum, Carrie, have campaigned for earlier diagnosis, better support and the opportunities every child deserves.

Their campaigning, alongside other families and SMA UK, helped bring change. On 23 March 2026, Scotland became the first part of the UK to introduce nationwide newborn screening for SMA through a two-year pilot, offering earlier detection and access to treatment. But Tony’s fight goes beyond screening. It’s about Grayce being included, having access to the world around her and being given every opportunity to live a full life.

The family have also spoken publicly about the barriers to making their home accessible.
