Everyone has the potential to lead positive change, according to Alex Budak.
As a speaker, social entrepreneur, UC Berkeley faculty member, co-founder of StartSomeGood, and author of Becoming a Changemaker, he has dedicated his life to helping people from all walks of life become changemakers.

This week Alex and I dive into the role and importance of change and why each individual should take it upon themselves to become a changemaker, however small or grand! Alex co-founded StartSomeGood.com, a platform that helps break down barriers that prevent people from enacting change. Thanks to his amazing team, they have helped over 1,000 changemakers in 50 countries raise over $12 Million USD to catalyze new projects.

While living in Stockholm, Sweden, Alex had a good fortune that local leaders trusted him to run Sweden’s leading social innovation incubator. He lived in and explored Scandinavia for three years before returning home to San Francisco, where he helped Change.org raise its $35 Million Series D round from leading investors.

Upon returning home to the Bay Area, Alex started lecturing at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business; it didn’t take long to realize teaching was my calling. He put his heart and soul into creating and teaching a transformational curriculum: “Becoming a Changemaker.” This course is the first-of-its kind, providing experiential teaching that ignites the inner changemaker of students, leaders, and executives worldwide. Alex says it was the class he needed when he began his changemaker journey.

In addition to being a columnist for INC magazine, his first book, ‘Becoming a Changemaker’, came out in September 2022. It provides a fresh, inspiring and research-backed guide to developing the mindsets and leadership skills needed to navigate, shape, and lead change and positively impact our lives, careers, and communities.
