Starring Javier Bardem as Sampedro, the film chronicles his life looking back at the accident that took his body to the fight for his right to die to his final moments. It chronicles his life in an unsentimental way that seems at times at odds with the usual way of telling a biopic story, at least in American cinema. It's a quiet film that asks questions about life, death, and what it means to be human.
