Aired: Feb 14th, 1953. With the cattle season ending, Dodge City braces for a flood of trail-weary cowboys and jittery homesteaders all looking to blow off steam at once. Nervous merchants press Matt Dillon to deputize a small army to keep order, but Dillon knows a mob of trigger-happy deputies could spark the very bloodbath he's trying to prevent. Meanwhile Chester nurses two sprained ankles from a mysterious late-night tumble he refuses to explain, giving Doc plenty to needle him about while the marshal weighs how to keep the peace his own way.
