From our latest edition of the" Last Word on Sports Media Podcast," host T.J. Rives was joined by Bryan Curtis of TheRinger.com and his own "Press Box Podcast."
In addtion to being a tremendous writer and host on sports, Bryan is also an alum of the Texas Longhorns and a huge college football fan. So, it seems natural to discuss the controversies around the final four team playoff for 2023 that will move to 12 team playoff next year.
In specific, Bryan weighs in on how badly Florida State, unbeaten ACC champs at 13-0, was snubbed by being left out this year, specficially for Texas and Alabama, who both had a loss. Was part of the mis-treatment that FSU angered ESPN and the ACC by threatening to leave their conference due to lack of revenue, etc. as the season heightened? Specifically, did ESPN's massive influence play the biggest role in leaving the Noles out, Bryan gives his takes.
Also, will an expanded playoff kill the interest and enthusiasm at the end of the regular season and conference championship games, because now, 12 teams at the top know that they are in the playoff?
The guys debate that, too.
It's all from this conversation with Bryan Curtis of TheRinger.com on the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spreaker, Spotify, Google, etc.
