EJ and MH are joined by Jordan Delegal (JD) on this episode of the ‘The Locker Room’. The fellas discuss Diversity and Inclusion or EDI in the sports world since the world witness George Floyd’s death. Jordan led the discussion on how the big companies and organizations tend to use the phrase Diversity and Inclusion but apply it very differently. MH brought up how important sports is to lead the charge with Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace because of the nature of sports. EJ asked the group of the feelings everyone had in the workplace after watching George Floyd and how did it impact their work with counterparts.

From George Floyd necessary, yet difficult conversations have taken place. ‘Conversations with a Black Man’ by Emmanuel Acho started and have reflected in the workplace. Jordan led the discussion on how important the education is to our allies and who should be educating.

EJ continued the discussion getting the guys thoughts on who leads in Diversity and Inclusion amongst the four major sports leagues (NBA, NFL, MLB & NHL). Everyone agreed that the NBA leads in this discussion and the other leagues, well we will leave that up to discussion. What’s your thoughts?

Finally, the discussion led to support groups in the workplace. Black Sports Professionals (BSP) groups have been in support and have created talent pools in the sports world. So much to unpack and gain with this one, tune in!
