Fresh off 3-straight Indiana high school single-class championships and being named co-Mr. Basketball, the best friends known as “Silk & Smoke” were more than ready to take their winning ways to Bloomington. Arriving in the wake of the 1987 NCAA crown and Steve Alford’s departure, they soon battled their way into the starting lineup and forever claimed a place in Hoosier history with unforgettable buzzer-beating heroics, and an astonishing Big Ten title that no one could've predicated.
