God's purpose for your life is protection. We look at how God chose David for his loving servant heart and He rejected the people's favorite, Saul. We see that believers often face opposition that is commensurate with the destiny they must embrace. We also see how despite Sails persecution of David, he refused to speak I'll against him publicly, he refused to take opportunities to hurt or kill him. Instead he acted honorably in respect to God. David was friends with Saul's son Jonathan and loved both he and his father as family--even as Saul sought to crush him. Saul was fearful and bitter toward David, because David always reminded him of what He could have had and what He had lost. The kingdom had been Saul's until he caved in and pleased the people over God. He chose a fleeting pleasure and forfeited a royal kingdom. David was a constant reminder that his reign would be short. Even so, David remains victorious because he is annoonted and God has a purpose for him.
