What would you do if someone claiming to be an undercover MI Five agent told you that terrorists were hunting you? Would you run, disappear, cut off your family, and hand over everything you owned?
For nearly ten years, Robert Hendy Freegard convinced intelligent, educated people that they were part of a top secret intelligence operation. He persuaded university students to abandon their lives, convinced women to leave their families and partners, manipulated parents into handing over hundreds of thousands of pounds, and built a life of luxury using nothing more than lies, charm, and psychological control.
In this gripping episode of REAL STORIES REAL CRIMES, we uncover one of Britain’s most unbelievable true crime cases. From the first conversation in a quiet English pub to a dramatic police sting operation at an airport, this is the complete story of deception, manipulation, and the devastating cost of misplaced trust.
This is a story that proves the most dangerous weapon is not always a gun. Sometimes, it is a convincing lie.
