In this first episode of the podcast, we joined an expedition in Palma de Mallorca at the end of June 2023. Our objective was to discover the reasons for the decline of Tintorera populations in this sea in recent years. Although we were warned of the scarce presence of Blue Shark, we visited this sea with scientists and fishermen.

Once in Palma and before this journey, we found that something had not been quite right for years. Scientists and fishermen agree that this expedition follows the trail of a species victim of accidental capture accumulated by generations of fishermen. Pedro Mercant, a local weigher, tells us that “in the past, maybe we did harm to the Blue Shark” and Eric Clua, a scientist from the SharkMed organization, assures that the percentage of the disappearance of this species in this sea is 95%. Since then, fishermen have not seen it again on their usual outings to the sea. Local organizations specialized in this and other shark species have done nothing but keep track of it.
