Johnny Dollar #333, "The Bennet Matter Ep 3,"
Johnny Dollar continues his investigation into the arson of Arnold Bennett's building, with suspect George Foley refusing to talk despite police interrogation all night. With insufficient evidence to tie Foley to Bennett, Johnny and insurance investigator Andy Cord search for a breakthrough. Johnny decides to track down Elizabeth Bennett, Arnold Bennett's niece and widow of Tony Midas, whom Bennett framed and sent to prison five years earlier. Following a lead, Johnny heads to the apartment of lawyer Marty Engel, who defended Midas in court.
The confrontation turns violent when Elizabeth arrives at Engel's apartment armed and intent on revenge, believing the lawyer helped frame her husband. Johnny intervenes, preventing another shooting. The grief-stricken Elizabeth reveals that her husband Tony died of tuberculosis in prison just a month earlier, and she witnessed Bennett meeting with arsonist George Foley in a downtown bar. Despite her emotional confession about waiting five years for Tony only to lose him to prison, Elizabeth is arrested and charged with the assault on Bennett and Engel, while Johnny hopes her testimony will finally connect Bennett to Foley and break the case open.
