Season 1, Episode 12: The Living Full Out Show is a great source for listeners to find balance and learn that sometimes too much control can be unhealthy when it...
mostra di piùOn today's show, we listened to how people deal with stress and loss, not only physically, but emotionally as well.
Our first caller, Susan, has grown up in an environment where family was always a big part of her life with family get togethers at holiday time as well as throughout the year. As time has gone on however, she has noticed a separation or a gap growing and is concerned that if she doesn't do something, she will lose what she is used to. Listen to how Nancy asks her questions to help direct her on the path to solving her issue.
Nancy's guest today was an inspirational guest, Joan Brock, who, as an instructor working with blind students, finds out that she herself is also going blind. As time goes on and she becomes blind, she gets yet another devastating blow. Her husband, whom she met at the school, starts to get serious headaches and is diagnosed with a rare and fatal cancer of the sinuses, a disease so rare that most would never even suspect it and passes at the young age of 37, leaving behind a now blind Joan and her daughter. The rest of the story and what made Joan the person she is today is a story you have to hear to believe.
Our last caller, Bella, has a problem known to just about everyone reading this, the art of procrastination. As Bella herself admits... "I have a habit of procrastinating when making decisions and completing tasks, specifically regarding my career. I'm a late planner, but sometimes, I feel like I miss opportunities by procrastinating until the last minute, because I'm not motivated enough to do things beforehand. How can I solve this?" Tune in to hear Nancy's suggestions. Some of them are not as impossible as you think.
In closing, remember this. Life is not always cut and dried or things we have no part in controlling. Yes, the things that happened to Joan and her husband were certainly not expected, nor desired, but meeting the challenges life presents to us says more about us and the way we respond than if we simply give up and throw our hands in the air and say there is nothing I can do so why bother. Living Full Out is about taking that chance to stare down life's uglier moments and make the best of them. You may not win every battle, but when fighting the war of life, the objective is... If you can win more than you lose, than you are still winning.
