Historical Context and Wrestling Landscape: In 1977-78, Jimmy Carter became President, Rod Stewart's "Tonight's the Night" topped the charts, and the average American income was $18,264 with gas at 64 cents a gallon. The Worldwide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) was a regional promotion focused on the Northeast.
Superstar Billy Graham's Title Reign:  Billy Graham was informed from his first phone call that he would take the WWWF title from Bruno Sammartino on April 30, 1977, and lose it to Bob Backlund 11 months later. This predetermined plan was unusual and risky for business at the time.Vince McMahon Sr.'s Management Style: Vince McMahon Sr. was more focused on the wrestling product than marketing. He maintained a personal, somewhat informal management style, including using a ledger with names and phone numbers written in pencil for easy changes.
Promotion and Matches:  The WWWF operated with traditional promotional methods, and matches were held in old-school venues with basic setups. Matches often featured veteran wrestlers, and younger talents were expected to respect the hierarchy and traditions of the business.

Superstar Billy Graham's Reflections:Graham discussed various aspects of his career, including his relationships with other wrestlers, injuries sustained, and his eventual turn to a babyface (hero) role. He expressed frustration over missed opportunities and decisions by Vince McMahon Sr. that he believed hindered his potential success and the promotion's growth.
