The initial murder is thought to have occurred at the location where the body was found. It is only after the suspect resumed his killing spree that he may have realized that disposing of a deceased or dying victim in the sewers was a more efficient method of concealment. This rapid disposal of bodies enabled him to commit his crimes even in the heavily populated area of Frankfurt, significantly reducing the likelihood of capture.


The victims were restrained, subjected to abuse, and then discarded like refuse. For weeks or even months, the remains in the sewers began to decompose. Typically, the deceased went unnoticed within the sewage system for an extended period until they were eventually carried into sewage treatment facilities, where they frequently obstructed the screw pumps designed to separate solid materials. The advanced state of decomposition complicated the identification process and hindered the investigation's ability to clarify the circumstances surrounding the crimes. For example, the first victim was identified 2.5 years after the body was discovered.
