“Behind the Mitten” is Michigan’s premiere travel radio show and Podcast, and since 2015 it has published more than 480 episodes. It is co-hosted by veteran journalist John Gonzalez and longtime chef & beer expert Amy Sherman. The show has been recognized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters as Best in Category.

On this episode we travel to Iron Fish Distillery where tourism professionals gathered with the West Michigan Tourist Association. We managed to pull a few aside and interview them while surrounded by the aroma of aging whiskey!

Season 5, Episode 5:

• We talk Sarah Anderson, co-owner of Iron Fish Distillery in Thompsonville, which is located right on the border of Benzie and Manistee Counties, just south of Traverse City. It is Michigan's first farm distillery.
• Executive Director for the Manistee County Visitors Bureau, Sammie Lukaskiewicz, tells us why they make the perfect four-season destination.
• Crystal Mountain Resort is just a short Fat Tire bike ride to Iron Fish, and PR manager Brittney Buti joins the show to tell us what's going at the resort this season.
• And Tim Hygh, Executive Director of the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau, talks about life on the Island during winter, and also what's new for those visiting in the summer of 2023.
