mostra di piùOver the past few weeks, several actors and noted voice actors stepped down from their respective TV shows in an effort to allow for people of color to voice the 'minority' characters they'd been playing. Question is, was it really necessary?
In this episode of "Adult-ish," host Afiya is joined by recurring co-host Vincent Bernard to discuss the pros and cons of this cartoon world shakeup. The two cartoon fans point out the slippery slope people of color may fall prey to when agreeing to keep characters of color to being played by people who look like then.
Afiya dishes on the implications of voice acting being defined by a person's ethnicity over ability, and speaks to the impacts of making voice acting roles race-based. Meanwhile, Vincent dishes on his favorite voice actors in the biz and speaks to the number of coins that can leave many POC voice actors' pockets.
Take a listen as these two cartoon fans dish their feels on the shakeup no one asked for.

Do you think characters of color should only be voiced by people matching their looks/race/ethnicity? Be sure to tell us your feels at afiya@digidisnet.com
