The Philadelphia Flyers have announced Tuesday that Captain Sean Couturier will be a Healthy Scratch against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Couturier, who was named Captain February 14th, has not played up to standard since dawning the “C”. The regular season stats through 64 games are average at best. He currently has11 goals and 36 points. He also only has 1 point in his last 5 games, which was an assist against these same Maple Leafs. Coach John Tortorella is holding him to a very high standard and should be. Will benching Captain Sean Couturier light a fire under him and really get him going heading into the Playoffs?

Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have signed former Winger Wayne Simmonds to a 1 day contract. Simmonds intends on retiring from the NHL after 15 seasons but wants to retire as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. Simmonds was beloved by the fanbase for his hard nosed, physical style. He spent 8 years in Philly scoring 203 goals and 175 assists in 584 games with the Flyers. This is a guy who always left everything he had out on the ice. The Flyers will celebrate Wayne's career on April 13th against the New Jersey Devils. What's next for the Wayne Train? Could there be a front office job in the wake for him?
