2.15 What Is an Accessible Websitet and Who Should It Be Accessible for?
As many as possible. There are a lot more people that have accessibilty issues than one would think. Dyslexsia, color blindness and visable impared people are the user you often think off, but there are many more. A lack of digital familiarity is also a thing.
5.10 Web Accessibility Is Not about Technology - It's about People!
Neurodiversity is one of the things people often miss when thinking about accessibility. You need to understand what people need and how they act when interacting with technology.
07.00 The European Accesablity Act - June 2025
Everyone needs to meet the new act by June 2025. Ecommerce and digital marketeers needs to understand what this is about. It's not just to make sure, that your website is compliant - all services must be accessible.
10.00 The Business Opportunity in Accesablity
There are three big pillars of accessabliity. Ethics: 20% of people have registrered disabilities. Financial: 274 billion pounds in disables households i the UK. Legal: To meet legal requirenmets. You can do good and build you business.
13.00 Integrate Accessibility in the Service
Co-pilot is a great example of user accessibility. The accessibility is core.
14.30 Where Are We at with Accessibility for Now?
The end-to-end service should be in center. You can't do everything right from the start, but you have to bring your accessibility glassses with you for the whole journey. Organisations with design systems are doing it better with accessibility, becauce they have the fundamentals right. - webinar on design system here: https://www.nozebra.dk/insights/events/designsystemer
17.30 Fix the Six You need to raise awareness in the entire organisation. - Low contrast text - Missing Alt text to images - Empty form lables - Empty links - Empty buttons - Missing document language. Just adressing these six mistakes would signifigantly improve the web.
19.00 First Step: Run Your Own Accesability Check
See what you need to fix here. Educate your organisations on accesability. https://wave.webaim.org/
22.00 Even the Best Are Not Fully Compliant
Possitive steps is key. It's an ongoing process. Both visuals and the code should be buildt with a human focus. Most product teams are releasing continuoisly. This means that the team needs to be constantly aware.
25.30 Where to Start and What to Do
Be optimistic. There is a lot of bad stuff out there. There is also a lot of good stuff out there. In Microsoft Office there is a button for checking accessibility. Figma have great tools for accessibility. Hemmingway is good for readability. Involve you users as often as possible. Share the responsability. Find your allies. Do what you can when you can. Prioritize youe time and start where the biggest impact is.
