MCG Quantity Surveying's Mike Mortlock rejoins Cate in the studio to share more of his '1,000 Assets' study with Cate. This particular episode focuses on a well-recognised, but little understood investor trend: why houses are *more* preferred by investors than units are.
"The four year change was around a 10% increase in houses and a 28% drop in units."
Mike’s business has recently completed an interesting ‘White Paper’ study titled 1,000 Assets.
The study involved a four year documented focus on investor behaviour, from location trends to renovation expenditure and beyond. MCG Quantity Surveying uncovered some 40+ trends within the study and their work will continue to shape our ability to profile Australian investor behaviour.
Cate unpacks some of the likely explanations from the coal face and sheds light on some of the methodology for how units are designated.
We're very grateful to Mike for allowing us to delve into these findings to explore some plausible explanations for the trends he's uncovered.
