UK-born Mark Avery only started training for his first marathon in 2016 in an attempt to bring him out of his depression following the death of a close family friend and neighbour.
This first step turned into a journey that has since seen him run over 20,000km, running 20 marathons in 20 days from Tweed Heads to Sydney, cover 207km on a treadmill in 24 hours attempting to break a Guinness World Record, finish 2nd in a 240k race from the beach at Eden to the top of Mount Kosciuszko, and raise close to $100k for charity whilst advocating and raising awareness for mental health issues and cancer prevention.
Whilst not running, Mark is a seasoned Finance, Data & Analytics professional with 25 years experience in driving transformational change and profitable growth.
Mark is currently working in Commercial Finance at News Corp and lives in Sydney with his wife, 2 kids, and 2 dogs.
