Sydney based hard rock outfit Redhook have had a bit of a rollercoaster ride over the last 12 months – as have we all – with a series of singles coming out in and around the COVID period and tours being cancelled or postponed due to circumstances beyond their control.


Now, on the eve of their performance at The Other Festival, it finally looks like the band will be able to fulfil their desire to return to Brisbane with vocalist Emmy Mack joining HEAVY for a chat about the show and other happenings in the Redhook camp.


"I am so freaking excited,” she enthused of the upcoming festival. “It's been way too long since we've been up in Brisbane. I'm praying that everything just goes smoothly (laughs) and they let us cross the border and come. We've been missing it so, so badly and we can't wait to get back up there."


With the propensity for borders to be closed at any given moment, Mack admits that while it is hard not to get excited there is the ever-constant threat of the unknown that casts a large shadow over any current touring plans.


"I think it's the classic hope for the best but prepare for the worst scenario,” she sighed. “ If anything the past year has taught us is you can never get too excited over anything because as we saw here in NSW a couple of days before Christmas when everything went sideways and all the plans were trashed. Things can change so quickly so I am trying to be as hopeful as possible with... I guess just in the back of your mind knowing that everything could come crashing down at any given moment (laughs).”
