REAL LEADERS PRAY
Nehemiah 1.4-11 and Matthew 6.5-15.
LAST WEEK we learned that LEADERS Identify the crux of the matter, become passionate, and take ownership of the issue. Today, as we continue in the leadership series, our Topic is REAL LEADERS PRAY! We ought to ALWAYS make TIME to PRAY.
1.Acknowledge God. vv 4-5
Nehemiah Acknowledged the great and awesome God of heaven. We should respect men and women who deserve respect but GLORY goes ONLY to GOD! GOD alone is WORTHY of PRAISE and WORSHIP!
2.Confess to God. vv 6-7
Nehemiah confessed to God. He did not exalt himself and just point to others! Do we confess with brutal honesty with God who already knows??? Do we confess at all???
3. Remind God. vv 8-9
Nehemiah reminded God of His WORD. Pray scripture back to GOD! GOD you SAID...
4. Ask God. vv 10-11
Nehemiah asked God specifically. Some things need SPECIFIC Prayers! GOD wants to hear from us individually and collectively!
Nehemiah's Model 1. Acknowledge GOD. 2. Confess to GOD. 3. Remind GOD. 4. Ask GOD
Other MODELS include:
- the MODEL PRAYER given to us by Jesus,
- the ACTS model: Acknowledge, Confess, Thanksgiving, & Supplication,
- concentric circles: the whole world, our nation, state, city, community/church, & personal,
- or just have a talk with JESUS like He is the friend that He is.
