Pom Poko is a 1994 Japanese Anime with sometimes cute, and sometimes not so cute transforming racoon dogs or otherwise known in Japan as tanuki. The tanuki are a mythical creature that has remained hidden for centuries from its human counterparts in a forest just outside Tokyo.
Unfortunately things begin to change for the tanuki as they are being threatened by a new suburban project that is in development in their territory. In a series of misadventures and pranks the tanuki are forced to take more desperate measures to try and save their home.
The animation is directed by Isao Takhata, produced by Studio Ghibli, and distributed by Toho. Starring voice actors Makoto Nonomura, Shigeru Izumiya, Shincho Kokontei and Yuriko Ishida.
