He was a young California Highway Patrol officer seeking as much overtime to increase his income in order to better provide for his wife and toddler. While the extra money was welcome, his wife wanted more time with him.He was a great provider, but not the best companion. His wife was upset but didn’tfully express her feelings. An astute supervisor suggested that Brad and his wife discuss their issues with a marriage counselor. After nine sessions, the lines of communication were opened. Thirty-seven years later they are doing very well. They still have disagreements but have learned how to fight fairly and navigate issues constructively.
