India's sailing contingent for the Tokyo Olympics will feature four sailors- the highest in India's Olympic history! This group includes duo KC Ganapathy and Varun Thakkar who will be competing in the 49er class at their first ever Olympics.

Catch our conversation with the pair, as they detail how they got into sailing, and detail their love for the seas! Varun and Gana help teach us the nuances in the sport of sailing, and some of their challenges moving to different sailing classes as well as transitioning from participating individually to competing as a team! Through it all, one thing has remained unchanged since their younger days of zipping around on the water, overtaking their friends in Chennai - their sheer love for racing and need for speed! The pair also describe the level of technical knowledge required to be a sailor and their desire to the grow the sport in India.

At Tokyo, Varun and Gana will look to add their prior successes! Most recently, the two were winners at the 2021 Mussanah Open Championship, to go alongside a silver medal in the 2019 Asian Championship and a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games.
