I've mentioned to people several times that my martial artist path woke up one day and suddenly heard a calling. It had nothing to do with punches, blocks or kicking. I was heading deeper into the community by way of spirituality. The history of Tae Kwon Do puts a young man in a place of study. He offered monks the opportunity to better their bodies if they would better his mind. But in most martial arts the step toward a deeper more spiritual travel isn't recognized. Too often the only trail to take is departure. Religion is no different. Through challenge we usually discover. Once change sets in. Rarely do we locate the courage to dig deeper. Returning to the old habits instead.
