A woman was set to face a judge in Middletown Thursday on accusations of falsely reporting an active shooter at East Hampton Middle School.
While investigators were still trying to find out the motive, Monica Smith of Lebanon was hit with serious charges. The charges included falsely reporting an incident concerning injury or death, misuse of 911, and breach of peace.
The 57-year-old was arrested on Wednesday by police after they said she falsely made a 911 call in which she claimed there was an active shooter at the school on Tuesday.
