Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá amháin, i sráidbhaile beag cois farraige, bhí cailín óg darb ainm Aoife.
En: One day, in a small seaside village, there was a young girl named Aoife.

Ga: Bhí grá mór aici don damhsa Gaelach, ach ní raibh bróga cearta aici.
En: She had a great love for Irish dancing, but she didn't have the right shoes.

Ga: Bhí Aoife ag siúl cois trá nuair a chonaic sí na Cliffs of Moher áille ina gcéibh.
En: Aoife was walking along the beach when she saw the beautiful Cliffs of Moher in their glory.

Ga: Chuir síad gean ar a croí.
En: They captured her heart.

Ga: An lá céanna, bhí Cillian, balbhán óg cróga, ag ullmhú don fhéile damhsa is mó sa cheantar.
En: On the same day, Cillian, a brave and silent young man, was preparing for the biggest dance festival in the area.

Ga: Bhí a chuid bróg damhsa luachmhar curtha in áit shábháilte aige - nó mar sin shíl sé.
En: His prized dancing shoes had been placed in a safe place - or so he thought.

Ga: I ngleic na faidhbe, bhí Aoife tar éis meascadh a dhéanamh agus thóg sí na bróga damhsa a bhí Cillian tar éis curtha síos.
En: In the midst of the chaos, Aoife had accidentally mixed up and taken the dancing shoes that Cillian had set aside.

Ga: Níor thuig sí an botún a rinne sí agus chuir sí orthu iad.
En: She didn't realize the mistake she had made and put them on.

Ga: Bhraith sí iontach leo – mar a bheadh draíochta iontu.
En: She felt wonderful in them - as if they were magical.

Ga: An oíche sin, chuaigh Aoife go dtí an teach tábhairne áitiúil, áit a raibh ceol agus craic.
En: That night, Aoife went to the local tavern, where there was music and fun.

Ga: Nuair a chuala sí an ceol traidisiúnta, ní féidir léi fanacht ciúin.
En: When she heard the traditional music, she couldn't stay still.

Ga: Thug duine as an tslua cuireadh di damhsa a dhéanamh, agus léim Aoife isteach sa lár.
En: Someone from the crowd invited her to dance, and Aoife leaped into the center.

Ga: Léim sí, chas sí, agus rinne sí na céimeanna le bród agus le háthas.
En: She jumped, she turned, and she danced with pride and joy.

Ga: Gach éinne sa teach tábhairne bhí i gcion ag a cuid damhsa.
En: Everyone in the tavern admired her dancing.

Ga: Ach, i measc an tslua, bhí Cillian.
En: Among the crowd was Cillian.

Ga: D'aithin sé a bhróga gan mhoill.
En: He recognized his shoes instantly.

Ga: Bhí iontas agus fearg air ar dtús, ach ansin, chonaic sé Aoife ag damhsa.
En: At first, he felt surprised and angry, but then he saw Aoife dancing.

Ga: Chun iontas Cillian, ní raibh sé in ann a dhroim a casadh.
En: To Cillian's surprise, he couldn't turn his back.

Ga: Bhí damhsa Aoife chomh hiontach, chomh lán beochta, go raibh sé faoi dhraíocht agus dearmad aige ar a fhearg.
En: Aoife's dance was so wonderful and full of life that it seemed magical to him, and he forgot his anger.

Ga: I ndeireadh na hóiche, chuaigh Cillian chuig Aoife.
En: At the end of the night, Cillian approached Aoife.

Ga: "Is liomsa na bróga sin," ar sé le meangadh.
En: "Those shoes are mine," he said with a smile.

Ga: D'aithin Aoife an botún agus d'fhás an náire uirthi.
En: Aoife realized her mistake and felt very embarrassed.

Ga: Thosaigh sí ag gabháil a leithscéal go mór mór.
En: She started to apologize profusely.

Ga: Ach, d'fhreagair Cillian, "Ná bí buartha.
En: But Cillian replied, "Don't worry.

Ga: Ní fhaca mé riamh éinne ag damhsa leo chomh maith leatsa.
En: I've never seen anyone dance in them as well as you."

Ga: "Ón lá sin ar aghaidh, rinne Aoife agus Cillian cleachtadh le chéile.
En: From that day on, Aoife and Cillian practiced together.

Ga: Thug Cillian bróga nua damhsa do Aoife agus lean siad ar aghaidh ag damhsa, agus iad ag cur áthas ar dhaoine ag féilte ar fud na tíre.
En: Cillian gave Aoife new dancing shoes, and they continued to dance, bringing joy to people at festivals across the country.

Ga: Agus cé gur thosaigh a n-aithne ar chúis nach raibh chomh maith, chríochnaigh sé le cairdeas láidir agus rince a d'fhoghlaim siad le chéile cois na h-iontach Cliffs of Moher.
En: And although their acquaintance started on a sour note, it ended with a strong friendship and dances they learned together along the amazing Cliffs of Moher.
