Midshipman Michael Wallace of Taylor, Michigan, was awarded a Schwarzman Scholarship in 2017. Michael Wallace is a 2014 University of Detroit (U of D) Jesuit High School and Academy graduate and valedictorian. While serving in the Navy, Midshipman Wallace twice earned the opportunity to attend classes in China. As an exceptional student of the Chinese language, in 2015 he was awarded a summer study abroad program in China. In 2016, he earned the opportunity to attend a semester at Donghua University. In addition to his studies, he interned at the Shanghai office of a multinational professional services firm. In 2017, Wallace was early selected to serve as an officer on nuclear submarines after completing a rigorous technical interview process at Nuclear Reactors.
