mostra di piùIf someone is experiencing a mental health crisis, and you’re waiting for professional help to arrive or the situation to resolve, there are a few key steps you can take to support that person and help them feel a little more comfortable in the interim – it’s called Mental Health First Aid and it’s saving lives around the world.
Our regular podcast hosts have leant their chairs and microphones to Fernwood Fitness Wellness, Training & Development Manager and Accredited MHFA Instructor Emma Robertson for this special episode, where she explores in-depth discussions around the topic of mental health with Mental Health First Aid Workplace Engagement Manager Kathy Bond.
They discuss how to start life-changing and life-saving conversations with people who are showing signs of a mental health problem or crises, the ALGEE method, reducing the stigma around mental health, and the importance of shining a light on confronting yet critical issues challenging our wellbeing.
Given the ‘unprecedented times’ we find ourselves in, Emma And Kathy also touch on 2020’s curveball. ‘Don’t think you need to bake bread or clean out your entire house during a global pandemic – even if all your friends on social media are boasting about it. If a bit of sneaky Netflix in the middle of the day is what you need, then that’s what you do.’
Kathy shares valuable information about the MHFA training program, signing up and tips for when, where and how to start those important conversations. We’re so grateful to Kathy and Emma for taking the time to share these insights and topics. Time to jump in…
