Story Transcript:

Cs: Před svítáním se mlha lehce vznášela nad Vltavou.
En: Before dawn, a light mist floated above the Vltava River.

Cs: Na Karlově mostě, u soch svatých, stála Jana a nervózně se rozhlížela kolem.
En: On Charles Bridge, by the statues of saints, Jana stood nervously looking around.

Cs: Čekala na Petra.
En: She was waiting for Petr.

Cs: Dnes měl poprvé poznat její rodiče.
En: Today, he would meet her parents for the first time.

Cs: Petr přicházel z druhé strany mostu.
En: Petr was coming from the other side of the bridge.

Cs: "Ahoj, Jano!"
En: "Hi, Jana!"

Cs: zavolal a usmál se na ni.
En: he called out and smiled at her.

Cs: Jana se mu vrhla kolem krku.
En: Jana threw her arms around his neck.

Cs: "Půjdem?"
En: "Shall we go?"

Cs: zeptala se s úsměvem, ale v očích se jí zračily obavy.
En: she asked with a smile, but her eyes revealed her apprehension.

Cs: Jana vedla Petra k malé kavárně u mostu.
En: Jana led Petr to a small café near the bridge.

Cs: Kavárna byla stará a útulná, s vůní kávy a čerstvých koláčů.
En: The café was old and cozy, filled with the aroma of coffee and fresh pastries.

Cs: U jednoho ze stolů seděli její rodiče, pan a paní Novákovi.
En: At one of the tables sat her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Novák.

Cs: "To je Petr," řekla Jana tiše, když přistoupili ke stolu.
En: "This is Petr," Jana said quietly as they approached the table.

Cs: Tatínek zlehka přikyvoval a maminka se usmála.
En: Her father nodded slightly, and her mother smiled.

Cs: Petr jim podal ruku.
En: Petr extended his hand.

Cs: "Těší mě."
En: "Nice to meet you."

Cs: Všichni se usadili.
En: They all sat down.

Cs: Jana měla suché hrdlo a nevěděla, co říct.
En: Jana had a dry throat and didn't know what to say.

Cs: Paní Nováková to rozpoznala a začala rozhovor o počasí, potom o městě a nakonec o škole, kterou Jana a Petr navštěvovali.
En: Mrs. Novák noticed and started a conversation about the weather, then about the city, and finally about the school both Jana and Petr attended.

Cs: Pomalu se atmosféra uvolňovala.
En: Slowly, the atmosphere began to relax.

Cs: Petr se cítil stále klidnější.
En: Petr felt increasingly at ease.

Cs: Pan Novák položil klíčovou otázku: "Jak dlouho spolu chodíte?"
En: Mr. Novák asked a key question: "How long have you been together?"

Cs: Petr se usmál.
En: Petr smiled.

Cs: "Rok a půl," odpověděl.
En: "A year and a half," he replied.

Cs: Tatínek přikývl a pokračoval: "A plány do budoucnosti?"
En: Her father nodded and continued, "And your plans for the future?"

Cs: Petr se podíval na Janu a odpověděl, že spolu chtějí jet na dovolenou a pak začít společně bydlet.
En: Petr looked at Jana and said that they planned to go on a vacation together and then start living together.

Cs: Pan a paní Novákovi se potěšeně usmáli.
En: Mr. and Mrs. Novák smiled warmly.

Cs: Konverzace pokračovala plynule dál.
En: The conversation flowed smoothly after that.

Cs: Káva se pila, koláče se jedly, a rodina se smála.
En: Coffee was drunk, pastries were eaten, and the family laughed.

Cs: Nakonec pan Novák přikývl na Petra a řekl: "Vítej v naší rodině."
En: Eventually, Mr. Novák nodded at Petr and said, "Welcome to our family."

Cs: Jana byla šťastná.
En: Jana was happy.

Cs: Poděkovala rodičům za příjemné setkání a spolu s Petrem opustili kavárnu.
En: She thanked her parents for the pleasant meeting, and together with Petr, they left the café.

Cs: Na Karlově mostě se zastavili a objali.
En: On Charles Bridge, they stopped and hugged.

Cs: Mlha se mezitím rozpustila a na mostě se začalo scházet více lidí.
En: In the meantime, the mist had dissipated, and more people began to gather on the bridge.

Cs: "Povedlo se nám to," řekla Jana a zavěsila se do Petrova rámě.
En: "We did it," Jana said as she linked arms with Petr.

Cs: Petr přikývl a spolu se vydali dál po mostě, vstříc nové kapitole svého společného života.
En: Petr nodded, and together they walked on, looking forward to a new chapter in their shared life.

Cs: A tak se mladý pár na Karlově mostě poprvé setkal s rodiči a úspěšně překonal počáteční nervozitu.
En: And so, the young couple met the parents for the first time on Charles Bridge and successfully overcame their initial nervousness.

Cs: Teď se dívali směle do budoucnosti.
En: Now, they looked confidently toward the future.
