Martin Barber, Special Advisor to OCHA on the World Humanitarian Summit, highlights how the changing humanitarian language – people centered approach and localization – affects how humanitarians think about the the relationship between affected communities and those providing assistance. He explains that why it was good not to discuss the humanitarian architecture at this #WHSummit, but that the implementation of ideas and commitments on the localization of humanitarian action would allow for more adequate discussions about necessary adjustments in the system later on.
PHAP members and others share their thoughts on the World Humanitarian Summit process in Istanbul, 22-24 May 2016.The association is present in Istanbul to help amplify practitioner voices and bring clarity to the Summit process for those unable to participate on-site.
PHAP is the individual-based professional association bringing together all parts of the humanitarian sector.
