President Bola Tinubu last week Wednesday presented cheques to selected tertiary education students, signifying the beginning of the disbursement phase of the Student Loan Initiative.
The Student Loan programme came into full force on April 3, 2024 after the President signed the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill, 2024 into law.
The student loan is aimed at providing accessible funding to underprivileged and indigent Nigerians for higher education, vocational training, and skills acquisition.
Over 1.2 million students across federal and state-owned schools are expected to benefit from the programme.
However, in the midst of its widely acclaimed noble intentions and benefits, how can we make the most use of the student loan?
Are there existing and foreseeable challenges, and how can we surmount them?
