Having gone to sleep during a dark and stormy night (chapter 1), brother and sister Brian and Alice Latimer awake in 1810 England. Brian is informed that he must marry a local lady to get back home, and there is no insulin (Chapter 2). Alice is determined to find someone responsible and get some (Chapter 3). Meanwhile, Brian learns how to dress in the early 19th Century and needs help. He also chats with his dressing fellow about facts about diabetes and musicals (Chapter 4). Somewhat more pragmatically, Alice learns about the three lady suitors and gets her hair done (Chapter 5). Brian ventures to the nearest beach an in ways yet unclear to the reader advances the plot (Chapter 6). Brian and Alice meet the three ladies at breakfast, and it does not go well for anyone (Chapter 7). Alice chastises Brian who promises to try and make for his behavior at breakfast and Alice vows to figure out why they are there in the first place (Chapter 8).
