Since 1967, police have enjoyed the legal doctrine of ‘qualified immunity’, also known as ‘shoot first and don’t ask questions’. In light of the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police, the peasantry once again have supplicated the Supreme Court to overturn qualified immunity via eight separate petitions. SCOTUS has declined to address the matter and has deferred it to Congress. Thus begging the question, “Who watches the watchers?”
