Reflection
One of the hardest lessons in parenting is learning when to let go. From the moment our children take their first steps to when they step out into the world, our hearts wrestle between protecting and releasing. Yet, Scripture reminds us that the God who began a good work in them is faithful to complete it. Letting go doesn’t mean giving up—it means trusting God’s ongoing work. We see this in the story of Hannah and Samuel in 1 Samuel 1. After years of praying for a child, Hannah made a vow to dedicate her son to God’s service. When Samuel was old enough, she fulfilled her promise and took him to the temple to live under Eli’s care. Though that act must have been heart-wrenching, Hannah trusted that God would continue the work He started in Samuel’s life—and He did! Samuel grew to become a prophet and leader who guided a nation. Like Hannah, parents are called to release, not in fear, but in faith. As we teach diligence (like the ants of Proverbs 6), responsibility, and godly wisdom, we must also step back and trust God to do what only He can do—shape their hearts, order their steps, and establish their purpose.
