On the 5th of January in 2011, a different ex-girlfriend of Griffith reported to the police that he attempted to leave a big plastic container at her residence on the 15th of December. He arrived with Colombo in a U-Haul. When questioned about the contents of the bin, he replied, "You're better off not knowing," as per Brook. She refused to accept it. She delayed reporting the incident for three weeks due to concerns about her own safety. Video surveillance verified that Griffith had indeed rented a U-Haul on the 14th of December and returned it two days later.
