Jueces 1: No hagamos la voluntad de Dios a medias.

¡Hoy comenzamos un nuevo libro! El libro de Jueces es el recuento del pueblo en la tierra prometida y cómo se levantaron jueces, que fueron líderes militares, judiciales y espirituales durante años para el pueblo de Israel.

Jueces 1:27-36:
Pero Manasés no pudo echar a los habitantes de Bet-seán y sus aldeas ni a los de Taanac y sus aldeas ni a los de Dor y sus aldeas ni a los de Ibleam y sus aldeas ni a los de Meguido y sus aldeas. Más bien, los cananeos persistieron en habitar en aquella tierra. Sin embargo, aconteció que cuando Israel llegó a ser fuerte sometió a los cananeos a tributo laboral, pero no los echó del todo.
Tampoco Efraín pudo echar a los cananeos que habitaban en Gezer, sino que los cananeos habitaron en medio de ellos, en Gezer.
Tampoco Zabulón pudo echar a los habitantes de Quitrón ni a los habitantes de Nahalal. Los cananeos habitaron en medio de ellos, pero fueron sometidos a tributo laboral.
Tampoco Aser pudo echar a los habitantes de Aco ni a los habitantes de Sidón ni de Ajlab ni de Aczib ni de Helba ni de Afec ni de Rejob. Los de Aser vivieron entre los cananeos, habitantes de aquella tierra, porque no los pudieron echar.
Tampoco Neftalí pudo echar a los habitantes de Bet-semes ni a los de Bet-anat, sino que habitó entre los cananeos que habitaban en la tierra. Los habitantes de Bet-semes y los de Bet-anat fueron sometidos a tributo laboral.
Los amorreos contuvieron a los hijos de Dan en la región montañosa, y no permitieron que bajaran al valle. Los amorreos persistieron en habitar en el monte Heres, en Ajalón y en Saalbín. Pero al llegar a ser fuerte la casa de José, aquellos fueron sometidos a tributo laboral. La frontera de los amorreos se extendía desde la cuesta de Acrabim, desde Sela hacia arriba.

Este capítulo es un resumen del pueblo cuando reiniciaron sus campañas militares después de la muerte de Josué. Notemos que ellos hicieron la voluntad de Dios trayendo juicio sobre los reyes y ciudades paganas. A un rey que fue muy despiadado, que humilló a muchos reyes, sufrió el mismo castigo de mano de los israelitas. Sus dedos pulgares de los pies y manos fueron cortados de la misma forma que él lo hizo con otros. Lo que se siembra se cosecha.
Pero lastimosamente, todas las tribus no se esforzaron lo suficiente para despojar a los habitantes como Dios les había dicho que hicieran y que Él estaría con ellos para que ellos pudieran vencer a los enemigos. Esto les trajo muchas consecuencias que veremos y leeremos en los próximos capítulos.

Hoy podemos meditar en esos “habitantes” que han habitado por mucho tiempo en nuestras mentes. Son esos hábitos escondidos que sabemos que no son saludables para nuestra relación con Dios pero que, al final, tomamos la decisión de dejarlos ahí, sin buscar la solución, sin buscar ayuda.
La tribu de Judá conquistó mucha tierra porque se unió con la tribu de Simeón para vencer a muchos enemigos. Caleb pidió ayuda y motivó a un guerrero a que peleara con más valentía si quería emparentar con él y tomar a su hija como esposa.
Todos debemos buscar ayuda o razones para animarnos a combatir y no rendirnos.
Si luchas contra un temperamento áspero y violento, existen muchas formas para vencer. Como la consejería pastoral, que nos ayudará a meditar específicamente acerca de ese problema en la Biblia, o la ayuda profesional como terapistas certificados en consejería matrimonial o familiar, psicólogos cristianos, o médicos que puedan identificar algún problema físico que esté ocasionando estas alteraciones en la personalidad.
Esto mismo se aplica con otras condiciones que son un problema como la pornografia, el desánimo constante, ansiedad incontrolable o depresión continua, cualquier comportamiento que está trayendo conflictos familiares y están dividiendo o destruyendo la familia.
Si no combatimos estos enemigos y nos acostumbramos a habitar con ellos, entonces ellos se harán más fuertes y más adelante afectan la convivencia y el buen desarrollo de nuestras familias, como lo dijo el apóstol Pedro en 2 Pedro 2:20: “Porque si los que se han escapado de las contaminaciones del mundo por el conocimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo se enredan de nuevo en ellas y son vencidos, el último estado les viene a ser peor que el primero.”
Por eso, hagamos la voluntad de Dios, tomando la decisión de no vivir una vida doble, escondiendo o permitiendo en nuestras vidas impurezas de maldad.
Hebreos 12:1 dice: “… despojémonos de todo peso y del pecado que tan fácilmente nos enreda, y corramos con perseverancia la carrera que tenemos delante de nosotros…”

Judges 1: Doing the will of God halfway. Let us not do the will of God halfway.

Today we start a new book! The book of Judges is the recount of the people in the promised land and how judges rose up, who were military, judicial and spiritual leaders for years for the people of Israel.

Judges 1:27-36:
However, Manasseh did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shean and its villages, or Taanach and its villages, or the inhabitants of Dor and its villages, or the inhabitants of Ibleam and its villages, or the inhabitants of Megiddo and its villages; for the Canaanites were determined to dwell in that land. And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites under tribute, but did not completely drive them out.
Nor did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer; so the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
Nor did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron or the inhabitants of Nahalol; so the Canaanites dwelt among them, and were put under tribute.
Nor did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Acco or the inhabitants of Sidon, or of Ahlab, Achzib, Helbah, Aphik, or Rehob. So the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; for they did not drive them out.
Nor did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh or the inhabitants of Beth Anath; but they dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land. Nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath were put under tribute to them.
And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountains, for they would not allow them to come down to the valley; and the Amorites were determined to dwell in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim; yet when the strength of the house of Joseph became greater, they were put under tribute.
Now the boundary of the Amorites was from the Ascent of Akrabbim, from Sela, and upward.

This chapter is a summary of the people as they resumed their military campaigns after Joshua's death. Notice that they did God's will by bringing judgment on pagan kings and cities. A king who was very ruthless, who humiliated many kings, suffered the same punishment at the hands of the Israelites. His big fingers and toes were cut off in the same way he cut off others. What goes around comes around.
But unfortunately, all the tribes did not try hard enough to dispossess the inhabitants as God had told them to do and that He would be with them so that they could defeat the enemies. This brought them many consequences that we will see and read about in the next chapters.

Today we can meditate on those "inhabitants" that have lived for a long time in our minds. They are those hidden habits that we know are not healthy for our relationship with God but, in the end, we make the decision to leave them there, without looking for a solution, without seeking help.
The tribe of Judah conquered a lot of land because they joined with the tribe of Simeon to defeat many enemies. Caleb called for help and encouraged a warrior to fight more bravely if he wanted to be related to him and take his daughter as his wife.
We should all seek help or reasons to encourage us to fight and not give up.
If you struggle with a harsh and violent temper, there are many ways to overcome them. Such as pastoral counseling, which will help us to meditate specifically about that problem in the Bible, or professional help such as certified therapists in marriage or family counseling, Christian psychologists, or doctors who can identify a physical problem that is causing these alterations in the personality.
The same applies with other conditions that are a problem such as pornography, constant discouragement, uncontrollable anxiety or continuous depression, any behavior that is bringing family conflicts and is dividing or destroying the family.
If we do not fight these enemies and get used to dwelling with them, then they will become stronger and later affect the coexistence and good development of our families as the apostle Peter said in 2 Peter 2:20: “For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.”
Therefore, let us do the will of God, making the decision not to live a double life, hiding or allowing impurities of evil in our lives.
Hebrews 12:1 says: “... let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,...”
