This analysis, conducted by handwriting experts Mozelle Martin and Dawn McCarty, suggests a significant connection between Gary Oliva, a convicted pedophile, and the ransom note left at the crime scene.

Gary Oliva, who is currently serving time for child pornography offenses, has previously confessed to killing JonBenét in jailhouse letters. He was considered a person of interest due to his proximity to the Ramsey family's home at the time of the murder. The independent analysis by Martin and McCarty focused on comparing Oliva’s handwriting with that of the ransom note, especially looking at details like the shape of lowercase 'a's, slant variations, pressure points, spacing, and letter sizing.

They found consistent similarities between Oliva’s writing and the ransom note, rating the match at 1.75 on a scale where 1 is a definitive match.
