Often people do not want to deal with their own lives so they immerse themselves in pleasing everyone else.  Eventually that will come back to haunt you.  It's good to do for other people; however, self-care is the most important thing you can do.  You have to love yourself first.  Allowing others to draw on you all the time will result in breakdown somewhere in your life.  

You don't need anyone's permission to love and be confident in who you are.  Discover the authentic you and love that person freely no matter what anyone thinks or says.
