In this episode, I talk about what lead to the decline of the platform and background information about Meetup.com.
Here are some bullet points on what happened and lead to decay :
Majority lacking any innovation, since 2009.
Terrible UX decisions in 2013 and the faulty belief that a new website with the same feature would keep them relevant.
Lack of ownership over a community.
Pathetic engagement/outreach controls between the organizer(s) and members.
Social Media and Online Presence is terrible at best.
The big fish in the pond often falls victim to their own hubris once they become the big fish.
They sat back let other entities cannibalize them with Facebook and Eventbrite stealing majority of their slice of the pie
